What a Shiva Archana is
Thirty minutes. The pandit speaks your sankalp, then chants the Shiva Ashtottara — the 108 names. Bilva patra, dhatura and akshat are offered, and prasad in your name. Thirty minutes, on the Monday or the date you choose, with the 108 names said one at a time rather than read as a block.

Why Shiv ji
Shiv ji is Mahadev, and the abhishek is the oldest way to worship him: water, milk and panchamrit poured over the Shivling while the Rudra mantras are said. Devotees come to him for health, for a long illness, for peace of mind and in Shani or Rahu periods.

When it is done
Monday is Shiv ji's day. Pradosh, Maha Shivratri and the Mondays of Shravan are asked for most. You choose the date when you book, and the archana is performed on that date.

- You give the sankalp detailsYour name, gotra, nakshatra and rashi, and your manokamna — what you are asking for. Date of birth and birth time if you have them.
- A pandit speaks them at the templeHe says your sankalp and your manokamna before Shiv ji, by name and gotra, on the date you chose.
- The ritual is performed in your nameThe offerings listed above are made, and prasad is offered in your name.
- You get photo proofPhotos reach you by email, with the temple named. This is the whole point: you see that it happened.
You can add your family
One Sankalp holds up to 10 names. Each person gets their own archana, with their own gotra, nakshatra and manokamna, and you mark the relation — mother, father, spouse, son, daughter, brother or anyone else. The pandit speaks each sankalp by name.
What this is not
An Archana is not a separate pooja or hawan held for you at the temple. Archana performs the ritual and sends you the proof. It does not read your chart, and it promises no outcome.

The archana is the 108 names, thirty minutes. The abhishek pours panchamrit over the Shivling for an hour. The Rudrabhishek is the longest, ninety minutes, with 1,100 Rudra mantras and a havan.
Is bilva patra necessary?
Tradition holds that Shiv ji accepts bilva patra above other leaves, and it is offered in all three of these rituals.
