What a Durga Archana is
Thirty minutes. The pandit speaks your sankalp, then chants the Durga Ashtottara — her 108 names. A red flower garland and sindoor are offered, and prasad in your name. The Ashtottara is 108 names said one at a time, each with an offering, and the whole archana runs thirty minutes.
Why Durga Maa
Durga Maa is Shakti herself, the mother who answers when a devotee has no other protection. She is invoked against fear, illness and harm from others, and most of all in Navratri, when her nine forms are worshipped on nine nights.
Devotees book this when
- Navratri, on any of the nine nights
- Fear, or harm that is being felt from someone
- A long illness in the family
- A devotee who recites the Durga Chalisa and wants an archana done at a temple
When it is done
Tuesday and Friday are Durga Maa's days. The nine nights of Navratri and Ashtami are when most devotees book. You choose the date when you book, and the archana is performed on that date.
How it works
- You give the sankalp detailsYour name, gotra, nakshatra and rashi, and your manokamna — what you are asking for. Date of birth and birth time if you have them.
- A pandit speaks them at the templeHe says your sankalp and your manokamna before Durga Maa, by name and gotra, on the date you chose.
- The ritual is performed in your nameThe offerings listed above are made, and prasad is offered in your name.
- You get photo proofPhotos reach you by email, with the temple named. This is the whole point: you see that it happened.
You can add your family
One Sankalp holds up to 10 names. Each person gets their own archana, with their own gotra, nakshatra and manokamna, and you mark the relation — mother, father, spouse, son, daughter, brother or anyone else. The pandit speaks each sankalp by name.
What this is not
An Archana is not a separate pooja or hawan held for you at the temple. Archana performs the ritual and sends you the proof. It does not read your chart, and it promises no outcome.
अर्चना का अर्थ मंदिर में आपके लिए अलग से कराई गई पूजा या हवन नहीं है।
